The School Street Food Pantry began as nothing more than an idea. However, through action and partnerships, what was a concern in the mind of one person turned into a concerted effort to solve that concern–food insecurity.
Much of Normal lay within with the USDA declares a food desert: a location where affordable and healthy food is either physically or monetarily out of reach of the population. Students, often a forgotten population make up a large portion of the area in this food desert.
